Short Description

We’re exhibiting at mmc2023 incorporating EMAG 2023!

The Microscience Microscopy Congress 2023 will house one of the year’s largest exhibitions dedicated to microscopy and imaging, with top companies in the industry, including ourselves, demonstrating their latest products and services. Exhibition registration is completely free and also gives you access to a number of free workshops and seminars on a wide range of microscopy techniques and equipment. It also allows you to visit the Poster Village which will be within the exhibition hall, featuring cutting-edge research from all over the world alongside the ever-popular RMS Learning Zone, with experts on hand to share their knowledge with visitors and provide demonstrations.

The mmc2023 exhibition runs alongside a large international scientific conference of six parallel sessions, covering an enormous range of microscopy, cytometry and imaging topics.

The Microscience Microscopy Congress is taking place in Manchester, UK from 4 - 6 July 2023. Find out more at www.mmc-series.org.uk

Poster Village

At the side of the exhibition, the poster village is where you will find over 150 posters submitted to the mmc2023 incorporating EMAG 2023 conference. The work spans all disciplines in both physical and life sciences including some fascinating, cross-disciplinary collaborative work. You can browse the posters at any time during mmc2023 and can discuss the research with the authors during the three dedicated poster sessions.

Commercial Workshops

Dotted around the hall will be the four workshop areas, each hosting their own daily programme of drop-in, informative workshops presented by industry experts.

Pre-Conference Workshops & Meetings

As well as all these exhibitors and opportunities for day-visitors, you also have the option of attending one of the Pre-Conference Workshops and Meetings:

ImageJ Workshop - 13:30 - 16:30, Monday 3 July

ImageJ is a powerful public domain image processing and analysis programme written in Java, freely available for download from the internet. Fiji is an ImageJ distribution focussed on the visualisation and analysis of microscope images in 2D, 3D, 4D and 5D.

This workshop gives a brief introduction on the use of ImageJ/Fiji and will account for all learning styles as a mix of lectures, demonstrations and hands-on sessions.

EMAG Workshop - Introduction to python for electron microscopists - 13:30 - 16:30, Monday 3 July

This workshop is aimed at researchers in electron microscopy who have no or little experience in coding, but would like to learn how to use the python programming language to acquire and analyse their data. We will guide participants through the basics of python, including loading and displaying images from the electron microscope. We will cover basic image analysis, including segmenting images and making measurements, with the aim to cover analysis of TEM and STEM images. Participants will be introduced to the large ecosystem of packages with python, with packages available to acquire data, analyse images and spectra, in addition to specific data such as atomic resolution images and 4DSTEM.

BioImagingUK Meeting - Monday 3 July

This pre-congress meeting provides an opportunity for the UK Bioimaging community to discuss priorities and strategies in national infrastructure, technology development, training, careers and ways to share knowledge across different disciplines. The session will consist of short talks from members of the BioImagingUK community and industrial/institute collaboration partners to update on progress, new opportunities and initiatives. There will be interactive Q+A sessions to encourage discussion and enable emerging priorities and ideas to be highlighted. The meeting is free to attend, and open to everyone with an interest in bioimaging.

Early Career Symposium - Monday 3 July

The Early Career Symposium is an interdisciplinary event aimed at students, postdocs and early career professionals working in the field of microscopy. This will be a great opportunity for you to network ahead of the main mmc2023 conference, as well as to showcase your research with peers.

The meeting will include an invited speaker and short talks, as well as flash talks from the shortlisted applicants for the Early Career Award. The winner of the award will be announced at the end of the symposium.

Super-resolution Workshop – Friday 7 July, University of Leeds

This meeting is designed to talk about the current challenges in developing and using super-resolution microscopy. With short talks and lots of time for discussion, the workshop will discuss recent advances in super-resolution imaging from new developments in imaging to analysis of super-resolution data. Register separately at www.rms.org.uk/rms-event-calendar/super-resolution-workshop
