Accessibility
The Royal Microscopical Society is committed to making mmc2025 incorporating EMAG a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
We will have dedicated staff and volunteers around mmc2025 who can help assist with any accessibility query, they can be identified by purple lanyards.
Let us know in advance
If you would like to let us know of any accessibility requirement you may have in advance of mmc, please email [email protected].
Venue
Manchester Central is an accessible venue, the exhibition space is on the ground floor and can be easily accessed via the main entrance, which has ramp access and the doors are sensor-activated. Assistance dogs are welcome, and Induction Loop facilities are available on site. The conference rooms on the first floor can be accessed via stairs or lifts. The venue signage uses pictorial symbols and contrasting graphics on the wall-to-floor glazing.
Each lecture theatre has wheelchair spaces available, and any of the volunteers or staff will be able to show you where this seating is, or help find an accessible seating option.
The venue provides security for the congress, and these people can be identified by their blue blazers. You may be required to go through a bag check upon arrival, and be asked to scan your badge upon entry into the exhibition.
There will be a variety of food stations within the venue, as well as a number of water stations throughout the conference and exhibition.
Toilets are spaced around the venue, and an accessible toilet is available with a radar key, which can be collected from either the venue reception, or a member of RMS staff with a purple lanyard.
Social Dinners
All three social dinners are taking place in wheelchair accessible venues. More information on the social dinners can be found on the Networking & Social Programme.
Please ensure you have notified the RMS staff of any allergens.
Quiet Room
For the first time this year mmc2025 will have a quiet room. This will be located in Central 8, in the foyer of Manchester Central next to the cloakroom, and is a free space for attendees to decompress from the hustle and bustle of the congress. The room will have noise defenders, fidget toys and a puzzles, as well as different seating options.
Attendees can enter the room on their own, and stay as long as they would like, all we ask is that you are respectful of others in the room. This room is not designed to be a working space, and we kindly ask that attendees refrain from using it as a meeting/work space.
Prayer Room
The prayer room can be accessed from the foyer, please speak to a member of RMS staff with a purple lanyard for more information.
Lactation Room
For breastfeeding, feeding and expressing, the lactation room can be accessed from the exhibition area. Please speak to a member of RMS staff with a purple lanyard
